"Mom, am I fat?"

When my daughter asked me that in Kindergarten, my heart shattered. Later, my son refused to play gym because he felt he wasn’t "good enough" compared to the other boys.

Words cut deep. In fact, a recent report shows that 59% of all bullying incidents involving Canadian youth are verbal insults. Name-calling is common, but that doesn’t make it okay.
